What is Clarinex
Clarinex tablets are used to treat seasonal allergies.
Clarinex may also be used to treat hives.
How to Take Clarinex
Take Clarinex by mouth once a day or as directed by your
doctor. Do not increase your dose or take this more often than
directed. Do not take Clarinex for several days before allergy
testing since test results may be affected.
Clarinex Side Effects
Clarinex may cause throat discomfort, muscle pain, nausea,
dizziness, dry mouth or throat. If they persist or worsen,
inform your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if
this unlikely but serious side effect occurs: rapid or pounding
heartbeat.
Clarinex Precautions
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney
disease, liver disease, any allergies (especially to loratadine).
Limit alcohol intake, as it may intensify medication side
effects. Desloratadine should be used only when clearly needed
during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your
doctor. Clarinex passes into breast milk. Breast-feeding is not
recommended while using Clarinex.
Clarinex Medication Interactions
Tell your doctor of any prescription or nonprescription
medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine
without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Clarinex Overdose
Little is known about the effects of a Clarinex overdose.
However, any medication taken in excess can have serious
consequences. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention
immediately.
Symptoms of Clarinex overdose may include:
Rapid heartbeat, sleepiness
Clarinex Notes
Do not increase the dose of Clarinex or take it more than
once a day. Higher doses have no additional effect on hay fever
symptoms and may cause drowsiness.
Clarinex is not approved for children under 12.
Clarinex Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, do not double the next dose. Instead,
skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Clarinex Storage
Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. Do
not store in the bathroom.
